Description

The project’s aim is to provide integrated and coordinated recovery interventions to communities in Balcad, Banadir, and Beledweyne impacted by conflict, drought, lack of government-funded long-term relief and assistance services, and high prices of basic commodities. This will reduce the vulnerability, marginalization, and economic setbacks experienced by vulnerable populations, with a particular focus on women, children, youth, and individuals with special needs. The project involves four main components: health, food security/livelihood, WASH and education. Under Health, the project aims to provide primary health care services to 15,000 households (or 90,000 vulnerable people) in Balcad, Benadir & Beledweyne districts through the support of health facilities. Under Food Security and Livelihood, the project will benefit 1,000 farming households (or 6,000 individuals) in and around Beledweyne and Balcad through the provision of low-cost agriculture and high-quality technology to increase food production, which will motivate communities to engage in food production. Under WASH, the project will construct latrines and solid waste garbage disposal pits in the four villages. Under Education, the project will strengthen educational support and develop student and teacher capacity by providing teaching and learning materials, providing wheelchairs to students who are disabled, offering incentives to teachers, and building a library centre equipped with books and resources.
