Description

The project is addressing the barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) that are faced by marginalized groups in poor urban areas of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Among the target population, our project focuses on adolescents, unmarried women, and Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factory workers as they face significant challenges and discrimination in accessing the full range of sexual and reproductive health services they are entitled to, including contraceptive services and safe abortion ¬(referred to as menstrual regulation (MR) in Bangladesh). The project will also address the negative impact that COVID-19 has had with respect to access to SRHR services. Project activities include (1) Providing training at 154 health sites to equip healthcare workers to provide quality contraceptive care that is responsive to the needs of women and adolescents; (2) mobilizing youth and facilitating social and behavioural change within communities to create supportive environments related to SRHR, gender equality and addressing gender-based violence; (3) providing infrastructure, commodities and technologies required to provide quality, women-centered contraceptive services in the 154 health sites.
