SUMMARY:MIH Canada - Challenges posed by current ART practices\, surrogacy arrangements\, and gene editing: are new public policies needed?
DESCRIPTION:Please join Maternal and Infant Health Canada (a global public health collaborative devoted to improving wellbeing of the environment\, young ones and those who identify as women) and the Global Women’s Health Network (an alumni group of the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health Takemi program in International Health) for a webinar that is open to all\, free of charge. We host webinars every two months. Participants will be able to identify at least 3 problems created by current practices in this arena and proposed public policy solutions to address them.\n\nDr. Judy Norsigian is a co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves. She served as executive director of the organization from 2001 to 2015 and is currently the chair of the OBOS Board of Directors. Judy has been an author and editor for each of the nine editions of Our Bodies\, Ourselves\, the organization’s landmark book on sexuality and reproductive health. Personal recognitions include an honorary doctorate from Boston University (2007). Additional honors include: being named one of 21 Leaders for the 21st Century by Women’s eNews; Public Service Award from the Massachusetts Public Health Association; Radcliffe College Alumnae Association Annual Recognition Award; Boston YWCA’s Academy of Women Achievers; and the Massachusetts Health Council Award.\n\nKatie Hasson\, PhD\, is the Associate Director of the Center for Genetics and Society\, a public interest nonprofit that works to ensure an equitable future where human genetic and reproductive technologies benefit the common good. She writes\, speaks\, researches\, and teaches about the social and political aspects of human genome editing and reproductive technologies.
