DESCRIPTION:« La science et l’égalité entre les sexes sont indispensables pour réaliser les objectifs de développement durable\, notamment le Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030. Ces 15 dernières années\, la communauté internationale a entrepris d’importants efforts pour inspirer et promouvoir la participation des femmes et des filles à la science. » \n« Selon l’UNESCO\, à l’heure actuelle moins de 30% des chercheurs dans le monde sont des femmes. Selon les données de 2014-2016 de l’Organisation environ 30% seulement des étudiantes choisissent des domaines liés aux STEM (Sciences\, technologie\, ingénierie\, mathématiques) dans l’enseignement supérieur. \nÀ l’échelle mondiale\, le taux de scolarisation des filles est particulièrement faible dans les domaines suivants : \n\nTechnologies de l’information et des communications\, 3%\nSciences naturelles\, mathématiques et statistique\, 5%\nIngénierie\, fabrication et construction\, 8%\n\nDepuis longtemps\, les préjugés et les stéréotypes de genre éloignent les filles et les femmes des domaines liés à la science. Le monde à l’écran reflète\, comme dans le monde réel\, des biais similaires. L’étude de 2015 intitulée « Préjugés sexistes sans frontières »\, réalisée par le Geena Davis Institute a montré que\, parmi les personnages montrés à l’écran et ayant un travail identifiable aux STEM\, 12% seulement étaient des femmes. » \n« Afin d’obtenir l’accès et la participation pleine et équitable des femmes et des filles à la science\, et aussi pour atteindre l’égalité entre les sexes et l’autonomisation des femmes et des filles\, l’Assemblée générale des Nations Unies a décidé de proclamer le 11 février Journée internationale des femmes et des filles de science (résolution A/RES/70/212). »

The conference will host a wide range of speakers from around the world\, giving us the opportunity to re-examine cancer control from a global equity lens with a particular focus on the global cancer burden on children and women. \nKeynote Speakers \nDr. Simon Sutcliffe\nDr. Simon Sutcliffe (MD\, FRCP\, FRCP(C)\, FRCR) is a clinical oncologist (non-practicing)\, having been President & CEO of Princess Margaret Hospital/Ontario Cancer Institute (1994-1996) and the BC Cancer Agency (2000- 2009). He is currently the President of Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration\, a non-profit Society and charitable foundation – a volunteer organization bridging the disparities in cancer control between the two worlds of the higher and lesser-resourced world. \nDr. Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo\nDr. Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo\, M.D.\, is the director of the St. Jude Global program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and an executive vice president within the organization. He is also the chair of the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine and holds the Four Stars of Chicago Endowed Chair in International Pediatric Research. Rodriguez-Galindo led an institutional effort to become the first World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Childhood Cancer. DESCRIPTION:About the webinar \nWe are delighted to be joined by IIPHG\, Professor\, Dr. Kranti Suresh Vora. \nDr Kranti Suresh Vora is an obstetrician turned public health professional. She had her medical degrees from India\, MBBS DGO & MD from B. J. Medical College\, Ahmedabad. Dr Vora did her MPH at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health\, Baltimore\, USA and PhD from University of Maryland\, College Park\, USA.  Dr Vora received Bill and Melinda Gates Scholarship for MPH and international teaching fellowship at University of Maryland\, College Park. \nDr Vora has worked at Indian Institute of Management\, Ahmedabad and a joint project of UNFPA and Govt. of Gujarat\, before joining Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar in 2012. Dr Vora has collaborated internationally with Karolinka Institutet\, University of Aberdeen\, McGIll University and University of Canberra among others. Her areas of interest includes Reproductive child health\, Health policy\, Health System strengthening\, Implementation research\, Demographic Surveillance\, Health innovations and Cancer research \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Vora will discuss her experience working with tribal populations when it comes to reproductive health.  Learning objectives from the seminar: \n\nTo understand marginalization of tribal population\nChallenges of working in tribal area for reproductive health\nSatisfaction of working in tribal areas\n\nDr. Vora will also be on hand to answer your questions throughout the webinar as well as at the end of the webinar. \nWe look forward to seeing you there. \nClick here to register!
