Meeting this demand in environmentally responsible ways could unlock major economic opportunities by 2050. \nCanada has a strong agriculture sector\, but farmers do not have one easy\, coordinated place to turn for advice and support. Today\, extension and advisory services come from many sources—provincial governments\, universities\, research centres\, farmer groups\, and private consultants. This patchwork makes it hard for some farmers—especially small and medium farms—to get timely\, practical guidance. \nFarmers are also dealing with pressures seen around the world: more frequent extreme weather due to climate change\, labour shortages\, mental health stress\, misinformation\, and a fast wave of digital tools and AI. At the same time\, government budgets are tight\, and there is a push to raise farm productivity\, resilience\, and competitiveness. \nThere is growing interest in updating how farm advice is delivered. A modern approach—often called “Extension 4.0”—combines trusted human relationships with easy-to-use digital tools. It focuses on translating research into plain language\, building digital skills\, and helping farmers see the whole system: markets\, climate\, finance\, and well‑being. The University of Guelph has already catalyzed this national conversation through its 2025 CAREE conference\, demonstrating strong cross-sector interest in modernizing EAS. \nInternational experience points in the same direction. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has found that inclusive\, market‑oriented advisory services improve productivity\, resilience\, and incomes—especially when public and private players work together. Farm Radio International (FRI)\, a globally recognized Canadian NGO\, has shown that radio and mobile phones can reach large numbers of farmers quickly\, make advice more interactive\, and build trust. Elles sont considérées au niveau international comme étant une violation des droits humains des femmes et des filles\, notamment de leurs droits à la santé\, à la sécurité et à l’intégrité physique\, ainsi que de leur droit à la vie lorsque ces pratiques ont des conséquences mortelles. \nLes filles qui subissent des mutilations génitales féminines font face à des complications à court terme\, telles que des douleurs intenses\, des saignements excessifs\, des infections et des difficultés à uriner\, ainsi qu’à des conséquences à plus long terme pour leur santé sexuelle et reproductive et leur santé mentale. \nBien que principalement concentrée dans 30 pays d’Afrique et du Moyen-Orient\, la pratique des mutilations génitales féminines (MGF) est un problème universel. Elle persiste également dans certains pays d’Asie et d’Amérique latine\, ainsi que parmi les populations immigrées vivant en Europe occidentale\, en Amérique du Nord\, en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande. \nPour promouvoir l’élimination des MGF\, des efforts coordonnés et systématiques\, impliquant l’ensemble d’une communauté\, sont nécessaires. Ils doivent être axés sur les droits humains\, l’égalité entre les sexes\, l’éducation sexuelle et porter une attention particulière aux besoins des femmes et des filles ayant subi de telles pratiques.

DESCRIPTION:Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve altering or injuring the female genitalia for non-medical reasons and is recognized internationally as a violation of the human rights\, the health and the integrity of girls and women. \nGirls who undergo female genital mutilation face short-term complications such as severe pain\, shock\, excessive bleeding\, infections\, and difficulty in passing urine\, as well as long-term consequences for their sexual and reproductive health and mental health. \nAlthough primarily concentrated in 30 countries in Africa and the Middle East\, female genital mutilation is a universal problem and is also practiced in some countries in Asia and Latin America. Female genital mutilation continues to persist amongst immigrant populations living in Western Europe\, North America\, Australia and New Zealand. \nTo promote the elimination of female genital mutilation\, coordinated and systematic efforts are needed\, and they must engage whole communities and focus on human rights\, gender equality\, sexual education and attention to the needs of women and girls who suffer from its consequences. \n

Ancrée dans des approches féministes et dirigées localement\, cette série vise à accompagner les acteur-rice-s de la coopération internationale canadienne dans la transformation du SEA/MEL\, en passant d’une logique de reddition de comptes axée sur les bailleurs de fonds à un apprentissage piloté localement\, renforçant la qualité\, la pertinence et la justice des programmes dans les contextes humanitaires\, de développement et de consolidation de la paix. \nLes séances combinent des activités interactives\, de l’apprentissage entre pairs et des applications pratiques\, accompagnées de ressources pédagogiques complémentaires afin de maintenir l’engagement des participant·e·s tout au long de la série de formation. \nCette série en trois volets s’adresse à un large éventail de praticien-ne-s\, reflétant un engagement à briser les silos et à favoriser des pratiques collaboratives et fondées sur des données probantes. DESCRIPTION:La justice sociale est une condition fondamentale de la coexistence pacifique et prospère des hommes au sein des nations et entre les nations elles-mêmes.  Nous servons la justice sociale lorsque nous défendons l’égalité des sexes ou les droits des peuples autochtones et des migrants.  Nous faisons progresser la justice sociale lorsque nous abattons les obstacles liés au sexe\, à l’âge\, à la race\, à l’appartenance ethnique\, à la religion\, à la culture ou au handicap. La quête de la justice sociale pour tous est au cœur de la mission mondiale des Nations Unies en faveur du développement et de la dignité humaine. \nLa question de la réduction des inégalités est au cœur de cette Journée 2020. En effet\, 1 travailleur sur 5 vit toujours dans une pauvreté modérée ou extrême. Un grand nombre d’entre eux voient leur salaire stagner et ne bénéficient pas de manière égale de la croissance économique. Les inégalités géographiques au sein des pays ou même entre pays demeurent\, de même que les inégalités entre les sexes. \nToutes ces inégalités empêchent les gens de réaliser leur plein potentiel et pèsent sur les économies. Il est temps d’agir pour réduire les inégalités à l’échelle mondiale.

DESCRIPTION:Que révèle une perspective afro-féministe sur l’IA\, notamment en ce qui concerne les savoirs\, les réalités et les expériences qui sont mis au centre\, marginalisés ou effacés par les systèmes d’IA ? Cette session s’appuie sur les analyses et les voix de praticien·ne·s issues de l’étude Made-in-Africa AI–MERL Landscape Study\, qui examine dans quelle mesure les outils d’IA actuels sont\, ou ne sont pas\, alignés avec les contextes africains. Vari Magodo-Matimba présentera les résultats liés aux biais culturels\, aux langues manquantes et à la reproduction de cadres occidentaux\, et explorera ce que révèle une approche afro-féministe sur le pouvoir\, l’équité et les pratiques en matière d’IA. \n\n\n\n\n\nÀ la fin de la session\, les participant-e-s seront en mesure de: \n\nDécouvrir l’étude Made-in-Africa AI–MERL Landscape Study et ses principaux résultats\, ancrés dans les perspectives de praticien-ne-s africain-e-s\nÊtre initié-e-s aux perspectives afro-féministes et Made-in-Africa comme cadres d’analyse de l’IA\, du pouvoir et de la production des savoirs\nMieux comprendre comment les biais culturels se manifestent dans les systèmes d’IA\, notamment à travers les langues\, les données et les cadres d’évaluation dominants\n\nCette séance s’inscrit dans notre série d’apprentissage sur l’Équité et IA\, qui vise à offrir une introduction claire et accessible aux enjeux clés à l’intersection de l’IA\, de l’éthique et de l’équité. Au fil de courtes séances virtuelles mensuelles\, les personnes participantes apprendront de personnes invitées\, exploreront des exemples concrets et auront accès à des outils qu’elles pourront mettre en pratique immédiatement dans leur travail. \nInscrivez-vous ici!

En misant sur les liens\, l’apprentissage en commun et la créativité\, les membres collaborent pour orienter la recherche et la mobilisation des connaissances en vue d’améliorer les soins pendant et après la grossesse. \nLors de cette séance\, le GEM Hub présentera des constats et des progrès liés à ses démarches de co-création\, en s’appuyant sur des exemples pratiques\, notamment des ressources visuelles\, des algorithmes et outils cliniques\, ainsi que de nouvelles méthodologies et de nouveaux processus.  \nJoignez-vous à nous le 25 février à midi (HE) afin de discuter des réussites\, des défis rencontrés et des précieuses leçons apprises au sein de la Coalition. \nNous encourageons les participant·e·s à réfléchir à la place qu’occupe la co-création dans leur travail afin de se préparer à la rencontre!  \nInscrivez-vous ici!
