Global Citizen Unplugged: #SheIsEqual

Global Citizen Uplugged: #SheIsEqual banner

Join Global Citizen, the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH) and Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada in Montreal at L’Astral on Thursday, October 11 for Global Citizen Unplugged: She Is Equal. The event will kick off Global Citizen's She Is Equal campaign in Canada, generate momentum for Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada, and raise awareness of Canada’s leadership in women’s and girls’ health around the world through #LeadOnCanada.

One thing that has been made crystal clear in the last 18 months: women and girls deserve, and now demand, to be treated as equals. Thanks to movements like #MeToo and #SheDecides, there is a renewed focus on how women and girls are treated differently and held back in every aspect of life — in school, by governments, by health systems, and in the workplace.

This must change.

We’ve assembled a stellar lineup of inspiring changemakers and artists, all tackling things that are at the heart of what’s needed to achieve gender equality. Come and hear their stories, meet the Canadian Global Citizen, Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization and CanWaCH teams, and learn how you can take action to support women and girls in Canada and around the world!

We’re thrilled to announce that the event, hosted by Breakfast Television’s Catherine Verdon Diamond, will feature performances and remarks by:

  • Nikki Yanofsky (Performing artist)
  • Léa Clermont-Dion (Filmmaker and author)
  • Joannie Rochette (Olympic medalist and medical student)
  • Françoise Girard (President, International Women’s Health Coalition)
  • Rachel Kiddell-Monroe (International board member, Médecins Sans Frontières)
  • Choeur Maha (Montreal's innovative all-women's choir)
  • Emma Hason (Slam poet)

Speakers and performers will address the audience in English and French.
