Digital Campaigner, Advocacy Content

Job Description:

Working with the Advocacy and Government Engagement team, the Digital Campaigner, Advocacy Content will be responsible for envisioning and creating compelling and unignorable digital advocacy actions, opportunities, and content for engaging the Canadian public, especially youth, in advocacy and for influencing decision-makers on international development issues.

The Digital Campaigner, Advocacy Content position requires someone creative, passionate about advocacy, with a strong drive to mobilize audiences through inspirational content to take advocacy action against unjust systems that negatively impact vulnerable children. It also requires constant creative thinking and opportunity-seizing of advocacy moments to develop and curate a consistent pipeline for mass advocacy communications on World Vision Canada’s (WVC) digital platform (Adobe Experience Platform) and social media channels in order to increase awareness of WVC’s advocacy work, to drive non-financial advocacy engagement and to mobilize audiences to take advocacy actions.

This role supports content development to further WVC’s thought leadership, government engagement, and policy influence in ways that enhance WVCs brand and profile on key advocacy and policy thematic areas. It requires a broad skillset in various multimedia capabilities, especially video development and design, including developing engaging copy, proactive development of key messages for digital advocacy campaigns, developing content for monthly advocacy email subscribers and occasionally copy-editing policy briefs.

The Digital Campaigner, Advocacy Content plays a pivotal role in making the Advocacy and Government Engagement team fully independent to meet its diverse content needs.

Gender equality is a priority focus of WVC. As such, all duties and responsibilities will be undertaken through a gender equality lens.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively develop a consistent pipeline of accessible digital advocacy content for mass audiences via World Vision’s new website powered by the Adobe Experience Platform and various social media accounts.
  • Constantly ideate and provide customizable content to WVC’s website visitors who are interested in advocacy.
  • Provide content that inspires audiences to take action and increases supporter engagement by providing delightful user experience and moving them down the engagement funnel. The user experience should drive non-financial actions such as sharing, liking, commenting on content and where appropriate invite them to contact their MPs on priority advocacy campaigns.

Youth Content Development:

  • Develop content that specifically appeals to youth/young professionals aged 14-24 for WVC’s website and on WVC’s social media channels related to advocacy and broad youth engagement work.
  • Facilitate the development of User Generated Content from the current WVC youth network.
  • Train and equip youth on User Generated Content best practices.

Support Voices for Children advocacy (e-mail subscribers) Community Content and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the Officer, Operations and Systems Management to develop a strategy, copy and other creative content that aligns with customer journey plans for the community of advocates.
  • Develop innovative and new content, digital tools and strategies to deepen and maximize engagement, including open rates and click through rates.

Public Engagement Content Development:

  • Support content creation for the REACTS-IN grant, funded by the Government of Canada. This grant works in 4 countries in Africa and Asia focused on strengthening health systems, improving food and nutrition and improving gender equality.
  • Provide creative inputs for art-inspired projects, influencer partnerships and the development of videos and long-form story telling for the REACTS-IN grant projects.

Government/ Products/ Sector Facing Content Development:

  • Develop visually compelling, concise collateral materials such as policy briefs, leave-behind documents for government officials, event promotion, etc.
  • Develop digital campaign strategies and content as needed for the team
