StepWise: The Community Guide to AIDS 2014 Launches

ICASO, in partnership with the Interagency Coalition for AIDS and Development (ICAD), is pleased to announce the launch of “StepWise: The Community Guide to AIDS 2014,” and @stepwiseguide. StepWise is an online hub for information related to the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), to be held July 20-25, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia. StepWise is tailored for communities and individuals around the world who are interested in learning about and/or attending AIDS 2014.
The theme of AIDS 2014, Stepping up the pace, reflects the importance of this year’s conference. With recent advances in the science of HIV treatment and prevention, it is time to advance global commitments to scaling up the response, with a view to ending the global AIDS pandemic. AIDS 2014 will be a singular opportunity to reflect on the great strides we have made and to leverage that progress to demand greater and more strategic investments. People living with HIV, key populations, scientists, clinicians, advocates, activists, decision makers, and the global media will gather in Melbourne next July to take stock and set the course for the global AIDS response. It is critical that communities of people living with and affected by HIV everywhere are represented in all aspects of AIDS 2014. StepWise is one tool to help make that a reality.
Importantly, scholarship applications for AIDS 2014 open today, and will close on February 13, 2014.
Registration, abstract submissions, and programme applications all opened on December 1.
At StepWise, visitors will find information about the AIDS 2014 conference, including the Global Village, reminders about upcoming deadlines, updates on immigration and housing, links to abstract mentoring opportunities, and learning and networking opportunities before the conference and in Melbourne. StepWise is presented by ICASO, an international community organizing partner of AIDS 2014 and long-term advocate for the greater and meaningful inclusion of people living with HIV and communities most impacted by the epidemic, and ICAD, which represents a broad range of Canadian organizations working to end AIDS in Canada and around the world. The goal of StepWise is to strengthen community participation in AIDS 2014, thereby ensuring greater visibility of our issues and voices.
