Sharing Chamas COVID-19 Research Through Story & Performance
Tuesday, 11 March, 2025 – 14:00-15:30 PST
Online
About the Session
This online session will demonstrate how research findings about women’s adaptation and resilience during COVID-19 were transformed into culturally relevant, accessible formats through community co-design. Through interactive discussions, participants will share how traditional academic research was reimagined into family storybooks, children’s counting books, community theater performances, and youth-focused social media content. Partnering with Moi University students in journalism and community health, we applied human-centered design principles to create these materials while fostering community capacity through hands-on learning in printmaking, illustration, and sustainable production techniques. Learn how partnerships with local universities, community advisory boards, and design labs created a sustainable model for knowledge sharing that honours local traditions while embracing modern communication channels.
