Webinar: New tool launched- Supporting wet nursing safely in emergencies

Join Save the Children for a one-hour webinar on December 3 at 9 a.m. EST.
In emergencies, every drop of breast milk counts. Wet nursing is a proven, life-saving practice that helps infants continue receiving the protection of human milk when their own mother needs time or support to establish or re-establish direct breastfeeding, or when infants are orphaned, unaccompanied – or temporarily without maternal care.
Wet nursing is deeply rooted in cultural practice and has also been shaped by historical and sometimes harmful power dynamics. The new guidance and the Wet Nursing Screening Tool emphasise safe, voluntary and culturally grounded support. When approached in this way, wet nursing can bridge temporary feeding challenges, support maternal recovery, and maintain access to breast milk while avoiding the risks associated with breast milk substitutes, like infant formula, in emergencies.
This session is relevant for frontline staff, decision makers, and policy influencers engaged in designing, delivering, or guiding maternal, infant and young child nutrition programmes.
