The Volunteer’s Role

As a Communications & Marketing Advisor, you will utilize your communication skills to create promotional content for the SHARE project in Iringa, Tanzania. This initiative empowers Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), particularly supporting women and youth-led businesses, by providing them access to experienced volunteers in management and entrepreneurship. The project also offers a comprehensive incubation program, shared technology for startups, and tailored financial mentorship for expanding SMEs.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Assess the current external communications strategies in place.
  • Create a communications and marketing plan addressing identified gaps.
  • Conduct informal interviews and/or focus groups with project partners, international and national volunteers, as well as local SMEs.
  • Identify opportunities for creating local media content (including radio, newspapers, and advertisements) and draft relevant marketing materials.
  • Work together with international and national volunteers to deliver learning workshops to TCCIA, TWCC, and SIDO.
  • Assist with social media content by collaborating with the T-LED Communications Officer.

Essential Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field

Essential Professional Background/Competencies

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a communications or marketing position, with a proven track record in developing promotional content in multiple formats (such as written, visual, audio, etc.).
  • Proficient in facilitation and training, with hands-on experience in designing and delivering workshops.

Volunteer Support and Requirements 

Support Package

Selection and Screening

If you are shortlisted, you will need to: 

  • Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel 
  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference 
  • Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview 
  • Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure 
  • Comply with anti-terrorism checks 
  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct
