WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Impact and Learning, the Program Officer plays an important role supporting the Foundation to get funds directly into the hands of community-based organizations working on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic in Africa. The Program Officer provides administrative support and works closely with the entire Programs team.

  • Working very closely with Program Managers to support essential tasks associated with SLF project funding, including drafting Agency Agreements, processing budgets, performing initial reviews of renewal proposals, narrative and financial reports
  • Organizing programs information as necessary, including data entry and filing (electronic and hardcopy)
  • Generating reports from the database as needed and on a regular basis (weekly and monthly reports)
  • Assisting with planning, scheduling, and preparing monitoring and evaluation visits as needed
  • Supporting communication with existing partners and Field Representatives in a timely and respectful way
  • Assisting, as needed, with special programs including thematic initiatives, roundtable meetings, special events, etc.
  • Providing back up to the other Program Officer
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent ability to communicate with warmth, professionalism, clarity and tact via written and verbal mediums
  • Have an understanding of and appreciation for the varied geography, culture, and history present within Africa
  • Comfort with a fast-paced work environment that requires flexibility and advanced prioritization skills
  • Basic financial skills to create and interpret spreadsheets, budgets, and reports
  • Understanding of issues around HIV and AIDS, poverty, and gender inequality
