Previous Projects

In the past, our fundraising efforts focused around International Women’s Day, known as IWD. The International Service Project is aimed to be a yearlong fundraiser for clubs and individual members to raise funds for the board-approved project. Some examples of previous projects:

International Service Project 2022-2023 – Canadian Women 4 Women in Afghanistan

CFUW’s 2022-23 International Service Project Fundraiser is the Darakht-e Danesh Online Library (DDL), a program by Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan. The Darakht-e Danesh Online Library (DDL) provides Free and Open Educational Resources for Afghanistan. The Library is a digital repository of open educational resources (OERs) for teachers, students, and anyone with a curious mind who wants to learn more on a particular subject. The Library currently houses nearly 6,000 resources in almost 130 subjects, for both primary and secondary teachers, in nine languages. The Library was created to increase access to quality, locally adapted educational resources, to encourage individuals and teachers to consult a wide variety of information sources in their practice, and to support teachers to adapt, create and share their own resources with other educators. CFUW donated a total of $12,342 to the DDL from 2022-2023. Final amounts will be shared at the end of our fundraising initiative.

IWD 2020 – Interpares

CFUW members donated a total of $1,520 to Interpares for our International Women’s Day Fundraising Project for 2020. The project was “Promoting Justice for Women in Antioquia, Colombia,” which was supported by Inter Pares and implemented by their Colombian counterpart Humanas.  Inter Pares is an organization that has worked for over 40 years with organizations from around the world to build peace, advance justice and globalize equality.

IWD 2016 – MATCH

The International Relations Committee recommended and the Board supports MATCH for 2017. We hope you took the time to visit with the MATCH representative at the 2016 AGM.
