The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) is a progressive, feminist organization rooted in the principles of anti-colonialism and anti-racism. The SLF was created with the express purpose of supporting community-led and community-based organizations working at the intersections of HIV and human rights at the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. The way we work and partner is guided by the knowledge that the expertise needed to cut the AIDS pandemic off at its roots is found at the community level. The SLF’s community-led partners centre the experiences, voices, and needs of women, children and youth affected by HIV, LGBTIQ individuals, grandmothers, people living with HIV, and survivors of gender-based violence.

Since 2003, we have partnered with more than 335 grassroots organizations on 2100 initiatives in 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
