Entrepreneurship Advisor – Cameroon

Role of the volunteer
Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for fighting social inequalities? Here is a unique opportunity for you! The Cameroon Country Office is looking for the ideal candidate who will help young Cameroonian women who have dropped out of the formal education system to build a better future for themselves by providing them with training on running their own business.

The advisor will, in a participatory manner and under the coordination of the BNP and target partner organizations, develop standard entrepreneurship training, provide mentoring and give technical support to entrepreneurs.

The volunteer will have to carry out the following activities:

  • Status report on the target’s knowledge/skills.
  • Participatory development of a training module in business processes, quality and standards.
  • Target training.
  • Mentoring activities.

Essential Academic Skills:

  • University degree in one of the following disciplines:
    • Management,
    • International development,
    • Finance or accounting

Experience / Essential professional skills:

For this position, at least 3 years of relevant work experience is essential in the following functions:

  • Project manager
  • Entrepreneur,
  • International marketing analyst
  • Entrepreneurship consultant, start-up

Project – SHARE (sharing Canadian know-how for inclusive development and gender equality)

Cuso International will carry out the SHARE project (sharing Canadian know-how for inclusive development and gender equality), with the contribution of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over a period of seven years. SHARE aims to improve the economic and social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls in developing countries, with the mission of contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ). In addition to strengthening Canadians’ engagement with international development and key global issues, this project will aim to improve the performance of country partners to promote innovative initiatives and more inclusive sustainable environmental development that will advance equality gender by implementing the areas of action for Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Cuso International’s terms and conditions allow you to live a modest and healthy lifestyle while being efficient in your assignment. Cuso International support helps cover a volunteer’s basic living expenses but is not intended to cover home expenses (e.g. mortgage, student loans, school fees, etc.) or items luxury including the importation of goods from elsewhere, international personal travel, etc.

Other requirements

Please note that if you are shortlisted for the internship, you will be asked to:

  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference
  • Pass an oral assessment during your preliminary telephone interview in the language required for your assignment
  • Obtain a police certificate at our request
  • Pass a full medical exam and get the green light before you leave
  • Due to the COVID-19 situation, be double vaccinated in accordance with the World Health Organization-approved vaccines.

Fundraising

We ask each volunteer, regardless of the duration of the assignment, to raise an amount of $2,000. All volunteers will have the support of Cuso International to achieve this objective. If a volunteer chooses not to raise funds or is unable to reach the fundraising goal, they will be able to make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
