The Corporate Finance Unit hosts the financial and information management components for the broader organization.  Along with the traditional corporate accounting, this unit provides financial and professional expertise and oversight to HQ operations in an efficient and effective manner. This unit is a key strategic resource in budgeting, forecasting and business analysis and compliance.

The Finance Officer, General Accounting is responsible for processing travel expense reports and acts as the main point of contact for staff requiring support with expense reimbursements. They onboard and support staff in adhering to the procurement policy and process purchase orders in the financial accounting system. They also ensure that month-end and year-end processes are completed in a timely manner, acting as backup for corporate finance colleagues and assisting the Manager, Corporate Finance with other projects as required.

This role reports to the Manager, Corporate Finance and works closely to support staff across the organization.

  • Ability to evaluate processes and propose recommendations, familiarity with internal controls.
  • Experience preparing procedure manuals for use by financial and non-financial users
  • High level of professionalism including strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, with a preference for working as part of a team for a diverse group of individuals with competing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications, including data manipulation; proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, as well as a demonstrated ability to learn computer software programs. 
  • Minimum two years work experience in day-to-day operational finance.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY

  • Experience using Concur and/or PeopleSoft
  • Post-secondary diploma, degree, or certification in finance/commerce/administration.

  • Starting Salary Range between $53,000 – $57,000.
