Gender Equality Intern

To provide support to key deliverables within the gender equality portfolio, including gender strategy refresh, sex-and-gender-based analyses, gender training materials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support in organizing and documenting staff consultations (focus group discussions and other meetings as required)
  • Carry out desk review of recent evidence and best practices linking gender equality with nutrition
  • outcomes
  • Work with gender working group to analyse and synthesize data
  • Consolidate country reports into summary reports
  • Work with Communications team to publish on NI website
  • Support review and translation of existing eCourses
  • Work with Communications team to coordinate the editing and publishing of Gender Training Modules
  • As a member of the Program Operations Team, participate in weekly meetings and support ad hoc requests as necessary

Education and Professional Designations/Experiences

  • Higher education (college or university is essential; focus on international development, gender studies and/or public health is desirable
  • This role may be suitable for those who are in the final year of their post-secondary or advanced studies
  • 2 years of relevant work experience; research work, volunteering and/or internships will be considered
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in French is desirable

Other Specific Skill Requirements

  • Excellent writing and notetaking skills are essential
  • Experience in qualitative research and report writing
  • Strong ability to analyze and synthesize data is essential
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer software packages– MS Word, Excel and email applications essential, MS sharepoint preferred.
  • Experience of working remotely through digital platforms such as Zoom, MS TEAMS or other
  • Clear communication and good interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as an effective and cooperative member of a team
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure when deadlines must be met
  • Field experience in a developing country and/or experience in a cross-cultural environment is an asset
  • Experience using NVivo software is an asset
