POSITION: GENDER EQUALITY OFFICER (BILINGUAL)

STATUS: 1.0 FTE

REPORTING TO: DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND GENDER EQUALITY 

LOCATION: VIRTUAL, BASED IN CANADA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Gender equality is a central value of CanWaCH, influencing all aspects of our work. Demonstrating excellent interpersonal communication skills, time management, and writing skills, the Gender Equality Officer effectively supports the coordination and implementation of CanWaCH’s gender equality projects, including strengthening capacity to implement gender transformative approaches to programming and CanWaCH’s initiative, the Equal Futures Network. 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Project coordination: support the development, coordination and implementation of gender equality capacity-building and knowledge-sharing for stakeholders
    • Provide logistical support for meetings, events, webinars and workshops. Conduct outreach to members, coordinating meetings times and locations, preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, tracking action items 
    • Assist in developing and maintaining online tools, including surveys, interviews and event evaluations to track progress towards the sectors’ capacity for gender equality and health programming 
    • Support gathering project and organizational data from stakeholders to track Canadian organizations’ work on gender equality
  • Content and resource creation: contribute to developing, creating and disseminating gender equality tools and resources
    • Gather information and conduct research to draft resources including tools, factsheets, case studies, blogs, reports, e-blasts, etc.
    • Liaise with team members to ensure timely production and promotion of gender equality tools and resources 
    • Support the generation of local to global partnerships of solidarity, including with women’s and equality seeking organizations, CanWaCH members and partners as well as private and public sector actors from coast to coast to coast.

SKILLS/ABILITIES 

As the successful candidate, you will have: 

  • Bilingualism in French and English 
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience. We welcome applications from new and recent graduates.
  • A degree in international development, women’s studies, health or related field 
  • Demonstrated passion for gender equality and global health
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and an ability to handle and organize varied workloads
  • Proven ability to communicate with a high degree of effectiveness both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated sense of humour
  • Highly self-motivated, with an ability to work independently in a virtual office setting
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, and online tools (eg Doodle polls, etc), and demonstrated aptitude at learning new software
