SUMMARY

The Institutional Partnerships & Program Manager plays a pivotal role in building relationships, and collaborating with Compassion International, other Global Alliance Partners, and our national Country Offices, to develop processes that will ensure new, multi-year institutional funding opportunities.

Reporting to the Director of the newly formed Programmatic & Philanthropic Engagement (P&PE) department, you will collaborate with various teams and key stakeholders to diversify and strengthen development products, strategies, and revenue streams.

In close collaboration with the Director P&PE, you will also conduct sector-specific research and assist in building strategic roadmaps and long-term strategy by developing and supporting P&PE priorities, initiatives, and “EPICS”.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES. What you do matters

  • Responsible for the generation and growth of varied multi-year, multi-million-dollar revenue through cultivating, building, and maintaining high quality relationships and innovative partnerships with new program and institutional partners, including Global Affairs Canada (GAC), foundations, and corporations.
  • Explore opportunities for innovation. Develop and implement partnership strategies to co-design and coordinate sector specific special projects. Establish accountable, measurable goals and objectives using GAC’s Results Based Management project design and management approach.
  • Manage a portfolio of new and existing funders to support organizational growth and new ventures plus build strong relationships with staff of institutional funders for grant management and negotiating funding Agreements.
  • Grow staff sector and program knowledge, public relations and, with the Director execute the Government Relations Strategy. Proactively identify, attend, and engage in philanthropic networking events that help inform the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Monitor progress toward fiscal year priorities, initiatives, and “Epics”, and report to the Director on progress, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Proactively create strategic engagement opportunities to increase our organization’s visibility.
  • Liaise closely with other internal functions and external stakeholders to guarantee adherence to organizational standards and to seek synergies wherever possible.
  • Participate in key development sector and partner opportunities with organizations such as Kentro Christian Network, Cooperation Canada, Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC), The Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH), Global Affairs Canada. Including monitor and maintain member requirements and status.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. What you bring matters

  • A minimum of five years proven and successful experience in philanthropy, relationship management with institutional grant making donors, partnership development, and developing new program processes is required.
  • Knowledge of international development, Global Affairs Canada, and strong familiarity with the practices and techniques of foundation giving and business development.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly the ability to manage competing deadlines and work professionally under time constraints.
  • Compelling, communication style particularly in proposal and grant writing. Strong editorial skills, aligning funder criteria with projects, and a proven track record securing grants with foundations, corporations and/or Global Affairs Canada.
  • Experience in coordinating input from multiple stakeholders and working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexibility for travel to conferences, meetings, and field country offices, as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree an asset.
