Social Media & Campaigns Coordinator

The Social Media & Campaigns Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of various marketing and communications campaigns to increase awareness about Operation Eyesight and generate more support for our mission to prevent blindness and restore sight.

You will work seamlessly with colleagues in Canada, India, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia to develop social media plans to reach target audiences around the world. You will educate and engage with donors and partners and inspire them to support our work. You will generate eye health knowledge among target communities. You will encourage staff, volunteers and board members to help amplify our messages online. You will test out new ideas, deliver results and hopefully have a lot of fun along the way.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • In collaboration the Digital Marketing Specialist, developing and implementing social media strategies to increase engagement, promote Operation Eyesight’s brand and drive traffic to the website
  • Managing and monitoring all of our social media platforms and related DM inboxes: Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Developing creative, engaging social content including posts, reels, stories and ads
  • Creating graphics and videos for social media, the website and email campaigns
  • Preparing key messages and outlining processes for responding to social comments and DMs
  • Preparing campaign briefs, critical paths, blocking charts and other project management files as needed
  • Collaborating with the Fund Development team to align social media efforts with broader fundraising campaigns including third-party events
  • Coordinating campaign tactics across several departments and following up with team members to ensure campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday, Gift of Sight and World Sight Day) are delivered on time and on budget
  • Testing ads in new-to-us markets and sharing learnings with the team
  • Organizing photo and video assets and consent forms
  • Engaging with partner content on behalf of Operation Eyesight and monitoring the activities of other like-minded NGOs
  • Supporting the trafficking of digital ads across various online platforms as required
  • Analyzing social media performance, generating reports for team review, providing strategic recommendations and optimizing campaigns based on key insights
  • Determining which key analytics to track and improve upon over time
  • Working with the Digital Marketing Specialist, ensuring the seamless integration and cohesion of social media content and website content
  • Staying up to date on industry trends, innovations and best practices
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and data privacy
  • Serving as a critical member of the organization’s crisis communications team should the need ever arise
  • Other marketing and communications duties as required

Training & Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing, public relations or related field
  • 3+ years of experience managing social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Basic knowledge of social media analytics tools and ad managers
  • Certificate in project management is a strong asset
  • Experience working at an advertising agency is a strong asset
  • Experience editing photos and videos; experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing and email are required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools including Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid work with mandatory ‘in-office’ days at the Calgary office
  • Standard working days are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however, the occasional early morning or evening meeting is required when meeting with colleagues in different time zones
  • Light monitoring of social media is required on evenings and weekends; however, back-up support is available among the Marketing & Communications team
  • Must have a smartphone with internet connection and two-factor verification enabled for all work-related apps. A monthly cell phone allowance is provided.
  • Some travel to local events might be required for photo-gathering purposes
