UNLEASH will host a Regional Innovation Lab in Nuuk, Greenland, between the 20th and 27th of August 2022. The Lab will gather 200 young talents (18-35 years) from the Arctic and Nordic countries to develop innovative solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals.
With the help of experienced facilitators and experts from across the region, the talents will work in teams to identify tangible user needs, uncover insights and develop new, innovative and visionary solutions that can have a positive impact on their local communities.
Participants to the Regional Innovation Lab will be given an opportunity to work concretely with some of the most pressing sustainability challenges facing the Arctic and Nordic region. These will be related to the achievement of Good Health and Well-being (SDG3), Quality Education (SDG4), and tackling the consequences of climate change and the loss of biodiversity on land and below water (SDG13, 14 and 15).
To ensure relevance and ownership for local communities, UNLEASH is working closely with a range of Greenlandic and Nordic/Arctic partners. This includes our Greenlandic Advisory Board, who is supporting us on the journey to make this initiative locally relevant, and our regional partners, who have made excellent contributions to make this project feasible.
The young talents will be immersed in a weeklong innovation experience where they will receive support and sparring from facilitators and mentors to frame problems and develop early-stage prototype solutions within the chosen themes (see above).
As a central part of the experience, talents will have the opportunity to experience the local culture and astonishing nature in Greenland through cultural excursions and social events that will unlock new perspectives and shape new Arctic-Nordic youth communities.

The 200 selected talents will be welcomed to Nuuk, Greenland on the 20th of August with a big celebration including speeches from thought-leaders and experts in sustainability and innovation. The Opening Ceremony will introduce the talents to each other and the program for the week.
For the next few days, the teams will be busy problem framing, ideating and developing innovative solutions through UNLEASH’s methodology based on human-centered design thinking.
The Lab will conclude with a big Closing Ceremony on August 26. The talents will get to pitch their solutions, and some will receive prizes at a formal Award Show. Inspiring leaders from the Arctic and Nordic region will share insights and empower the young talents for their journeys ahead.
After the Lab, talents will have the possibility of continuing to develop their solutions and personal development, supported by UNLEASH, local mentors, implementation experts, and more. The talents will also be invited to be part of UNLEASH’s vibrant community of thousands of passionate individuals who have joined our journey towards the 2030 Agenda. Teams can also apply to continue their entrepreneurial journey as part of UNLEASH’s incubation program, UNLEASH Plus.
