Doobay Renal Treatment and Health Care

The Doobay- Gafoor Medical and Research Centre has been providing subsidized dialysis for patients since 2011, over the last 6 months we have noticed the number of patients remain the same while the sessions have decreased, a thorough investigation was launched only to find out that most of the patients reduced their sessions from 2 times a week to one time, this was done by the patients to limit their dialysis and transportation fees. The Centre was advised by the doctors (Nephrologists) from St. Joseph Hamilton (Dr. Azim Gangji) that these patients wouldn’t be able to live very long on only a single session weekly.

With the issue mentioned above our Medical Director (Dr. Doobay) started to look for a way to fix this issue, knowing the company has a great relationship with IDRF and they are always trying to expand their humanitarian reach Dr. Doobay approached IDRF for help with fixing this issue.

The financial aid of $ 40,000 Canadian dollars will go a long way in procuring dialysis filters from Canada and send to Guyana for us to use in the process of dialysis, this will reduce our local expenses to purchase filters and in return we can offer dialysis at a reduced fee. Dr. Doobay is hoping to offer dialysis at a fee that those patients who are compromising their health by abstaining from dialysis due to financial difficulties can now visit the Centre for both sessions if the fees are reduced.
